For the first time in 2017, it’s time for me to post a snippet of an up and coming work on Rainbow Snippets. For those of you who don’t know, Rainbow Snippets is a Facebook group where you share a set of sentences from a work that has LGBT related content. If you want to check out this great community for yourselves, be sure to check them out for yourself.
This segment is from A Treasured Find series, and was co-written by AuldMisdione, the deviantArt user who helped me bring the characters of the story to life. Before we get to the sample, I thought I would share a picture that was created of Aquarius Swiftyde, one of the mermen who is a supporting character in the series. You can find it below, or visit the original deviantArt page where it was uploaded.
For this Rainbow Snippet, we join our protagonists during a scene where Caleb is lying on a hospital bed, and Varron is sat by his bedside.
Caleb awoke some time later to the gentle sounds of a carriage clock chiming somewhere in the room. For a moment, he felt a rush of panic as he imagined that he was back in the room he shared with Michael. But to his relief, it was then that he saw the familiar face of his loving genie.
Varron was sitting on the chair next to his bed, and Caleb could tell he was watching the room intently for any sign of danger. The witch wasn’t surprised, as his involuntary passing out would probably have given the genie more reasons to worry for his safety. The instant that he saw his mate was awake; the prince leant forward and kissed Caleb on the forehead.
“Good morning to you too handsome,” Caleb said, offering a kiss on the genie’s chin in exchange. Varron smiled, and sat back down so he could give his Hiraeth some personal space.
“How are you feeling sweetheart?”
Caleb considered the question. Although he was still a little shaken from the magical feedback, his body felt more rested than it had felt in a very long time. People gave comas a bad rep, but they did wonders for giving the body a well deserved rest.
Caleb felt his hand being massaged, which broke him out of his self contemplation.
“I would be lying if I said I could take on the world, but I do feel more like my old self.”
With those few words, Varron looked instantly less concerned.
On a side note, I would like to thank every member of the group who has offered me kind words so far. Your support and friendship mean the world to me. I hope you enjoyed everyone enjoyed this little snippet, and are looking forward to another brief glimpse as well as the final release.
Great snippet and I like the art. I do like a merman story.

The art is lovely and the snippet intriguing. I’m a little confused, but that always happens when things are plucked out of context. I already have a good flavour of the characters which isn’t a bad achievement in six sentences.

Beautiful artwork. There’s definitely something to love about a genie, too. Sounds like an interesting story.
